les doigts dans le nez

What does the French expression ‘ les doigts dans le nez mean? How is it used in a sentence? Listen to Anne’s audio.

les doigts dans le nez – the fingers in the nose. les doigts dans le nez isn't a very appetizing expression. Even though I'm generally partial to French, I must say I like the English expression a lot better. les doigts dans le nez means that’s its ‘easy as 1.2.3., that it’s ‘a piece of cake’, much nicer in English than in French.

  • « Je vais avoir mon exam les doigts dans le nez. »
“I’ll ace my exam, a piece of cake.”

Great lesson as always, Anne. Small nit: I believe the example as written should begin “Je vais avoir mon exam…”. Many thanks for all your hard work!
