About AN and ANNÉE
The word YEAR has two translations in French – AN and ANNÉE. It makes it kind of complicated for us to figure out. In order to make some sense out of this, let’s think of what the speaker is focusing on:
- AN focuses on the moment in time
- ANNÉE focuses on the duration it lasted
- Je me suis abonnée à FE en l’an 2007.
- I subscribed to FE in 2007.
- Toute l’année j’ai voulu m’abonner à FE.
- All year, I wanted to subscribe to FE.
