La bûche de Noël - Yule Log recipe - This French dessert is a classic. This roulade génoise cake is a reminder of the actual Yule log that used to burn in the fireplace.

The Christmas yule log looks really impressive. Yet, it’s really easy to make.

Ingrédients

2/3 cup granulated sugar

6 egg yolks

1 cup flour

6 egg whites plus a tiny pinch of salt

your favorite cake-icing – should be the color of wood

powdered sugar

Recette

  • Preheat the oven at 350 degrees.
  • Beat in the egg whites.
  • Mix the ingredients together. Put in the sheet pans.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes.
  • Take out of the mold. Roll into a tight cylinder in the towels. Let it cool.
  • Make your favorite icing.
  • Go back to the rolled cakes and unroll them delicately. Fill them. Cover up the cake with the same filling.
  • Make bark-like stripes with the prongs of a fork along the surface of the log. Sprinkle with powdered sugar to imitate snow and decorate with ceramic creatures.
