Uses of ‘bien’

bien in conjunction with a verb in the conditional modifies the meaning of the verb.


J’aimerais bien partir en vacances. .... I wouldn’t mind going on a vacation.

Tu irais bien à Aix-en-Provence, n’est-ce pas ? .... Wouldn’t you really like to go to Aix-en-Provence?

Il voudrait bien chanter ‘Douce France’. .... He would love to sing ‘Douce France’.

Vous réciteriez bien du La Fontaine ? .... Wouldn’t you recite a La Fontaine poem?

Ils apprendraient bien les expressions avec ‘cœur’. .... They would really like to learn the expressions with ‘cœur’.
