The names are scary, yet the dishes made with French offal – the entrails of animals – can be delicious and are considered a delicacy. This worksheet is not for the vegetarian!

Here are examples of ways to express ‘after’ in French. It doesn’t work the same way as it does in English.

 

They went to the Lorraine region after they read an article in a magazine.

  1. Ils sont allés en Lorraine après avoir lu un article dans un magazine.
  2. Ils sont allés en Lorraine après la lecture d’un article dans un magazine.
  3. Ils sont allés en Lorraine après qu’ils ont lu un article dans un magazine. (not very common)

 

After we saw the exhibit, we had lunch.

  1. Après avoir vu l’exposition, nous avons déjeuné.
  2. Après la visite de l’expo, nous avons déjeuné.
  3. Après que nous avons vu l’expo, nous avons déjeuné. (not very common)

 

He bought the CD after he went to the concert.

  1. Il a acheté le CD après être allé au concert.
  2. Il a acheté le CD après le concert.
  3. Il a acheté le CD après qu’il est allé au concert. (not very common)
