tenir à cœur means to be close to the heart

tenir à cœur - to hold to the heart - to be very important to someone. It's often used in the expression 'ça me tient à cœur', 'it's close to my heart'.

  • « T'inquiète, j'organise la soirée, ça me tient à cœur »
    "Don't worry, I'll take care of organizing the party, it's close to my heart. "

imparfait : ça me tient à cœur
