Being at the doctor's - Phrases

Don’t say “I want the doctor” instead of « I want medicine » at your next visit to the doctor’s. Here is a series of phrases and sentences to help you at your visit to the French doctor’s or if you are a doctor treating French-speaking patients.

  1. Breathe slowly. .... Respirez lentement.
  2. Cough. .... Toussez.
  3. Do you drink alcohol? .... Vous buvez de l’alcool ?
  4. Do you have …? .... Vous avez … ?
  5. Do you have a cut? .... Vous avez une coupure ?
  6. Do you have a fracture? .... Vous avez une fracture ?
  7. Do you have a scratch? .... Vous avez une égratignure ?
  8. Do you have seizures? .... Vous avez des problèmes d’épilepsie ?
  9. Do you smoke? .... Vous fumez ?
  10. Do you speak English/French? .... Vous parlez anglais/français ?
  11. Do you think you are HIV positive? .... Êtes-vous séropo(sitif) ?
  12. Do you think you might be pregnant? .... Vous êtes enceinte ?

  23. I have a burn. .... J'ai une brûlure.
